Grief Resources

Memorial candles

The months following the loss of someone we love is very stressful for most families. We want you to be aware of some options available to help cope with the feelings you are experiencing. One way is to share thoughts and feelings with others who have experienced a similar loss. Grief support groups and memorial services often provide a focal point for these feelings.

Goldfinch Funeral Services sponsors a Candlelight Memorial Service, the first Saturday in December, as a way to help families share together the loss and remembrance of their loved ones. Held at Hillcrest Cemetery, an ecumenical service is held and family members can participate in lighting luminaries. Holidays can be an especially difficult time after the loss of a loved one and we hope that this service will provide some measure of comfort to you and your family. The funeral home offers grief recovery literature and a grief library of information on various topics for both adults and children. Our Home & Family newsletter is sent quarterly for one year to the families we have served. It covers a variety of topics such as grief recovery, seasonal articles, poems and recipes.

Mercy Hospice & Palliative Care offers a variety of grief support services.
