Conway--Earl M. Hughes, age 75, of 8th Avenue, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Hughes was born in Conway, a son of the late Alex Monroe Hughes and Juanita Hodges Hughes. He was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes was employed by Hillcrest and Goldfinch Funeral Home for over 48 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, playing church softball, and coaching Little League baseball.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie N. Hughes of Conway; one son, Timmy Hughes and wife Melissa of Aynor; two daughters, Tara H. Turner and husband Chris of Aynor and Tanya H. Hammonds and husband William of Lumberton, NC; six grandchildren, William Earl Hammonds, Tenelle Hammonds, Briana Hughes, Hayley Hughes, Alyssa Sawyer, and Christian Turner; two brothers, William Lewis Hughes of Myrtle Beach and Lavon Hughes of Surfside Beach; one sister, Radie Woodward of Conway.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday at Jamestown Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Peters and Rev. Robbin King officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum.
